Your Bloodwork.

A tap-through story of everything you have ranked: tolerance, scariest watch, hours, dominant fear, streak, fear twin.

  • Covers every film you have ranked
  • Unlocks at 5 ranked films
  • Every slide shareable

Slides you can share.

Bloodwork plays your time on Gasper back as slides, and each one has a Share this button. Four of them, from the @gasper account:

  1. Scare toleranceWhere you land against the whole community.
  2. Films watchedEvery film you have ranked, as one poster wall.
  3. Hottest takeThe film where you and the crowd disagree most.
  4. Fear twinThe member whose fear is closest to yours.

How it works, in three steps.

  1. 1Rank five filmsBloodwork is built from your rankings, nothing else, and unlocks once you have five.
  2. 2Open it from the Taste tabThe button on your profile reads Show your Bloodwork.
  3. 3Tap throughTolerance, scariest watch, favorite film, hours, dominant fear, streak, Hottest Take, Deepest Cut, top watch partner, fear twin.

Your Bloodwork is the story of your fear stats, told slide by slide: how easily films scare you, the film that scared you most, the one you love most, the hours you spent in the dark, the subgenre that keeps getting you, the streak you are on, your Hottest Take, your Deepest Cut, who you watch with, and the member whose taste most resembles yours. Tap through it, and share any slide you like.

What is in it

Bloodwork opens with your Scare Tolerance and your skull, then runs through the record. "YOUR SCARIEST WATCH" is the film at the top of your rankings; "YOUR FAVORITE FILM" is drawn from the films you hearted. "TOTAL HOURS WATCHED" adds up the runtime of everything you have ranked. "YOUR DOMINANT FEAR" is the subgenre you have ranked most, or the few that tie. Your week streak shows as a flame with "N-WEEK STREAK". Then the three slides people share: "YOUR HOTTEST TAKE", "YOUR DEEPEST CUT" and "YOUR TOP WATCH PARTNER", and last, "YOUR FEAR TWIN".

It is built from your rankings, nothing else. The more you rank, the richer the story, and a dozen films already make one worth tapping through.

All time, not a year

Bloodwork is not a year in review. It covers everything you have ever ranked, the same as the Taste tab on your profile, which is where you open it: the button reads "Show your Bloodwork". A slide of Bloodwork is the Taste tab rendered for sharing, so the two never disagree.

It unlocks at 5 ranked films, the same point at which your scare scores do. Before that the opening slide says "Rank a few watches and your Bloodwork fills in."

Your fear twin

The fear twin slide names the member whose taste matches yours most closely, with the match as a percentage. It is the single most useful slide in the set, because a fear twin is a recommendation engine with a face. Whatever scared them that you have not seen is the next thing to watch. Follow them, and their rankings arrive in your feed.

A fear twin is matched on how you rank, not on hearts. Two people who both found Lake Mungo (2008) quietly unbearable have something in common that a shared four-star rating of The Shining (1980) on another app does not capture.

Reading it well

Treat the scariest watch as a prompt, not a verdict. It is the film at the top of your list, which means it is the one to recommend to anyone whose tolerance matches yours. If it is a film nobody has heard of, you have a Deepest Cut worth evangelizing.

The tolerance slide is the honest one. The Hottest Take is where the genuinely surprising fact lives: the famous film that left you cold, or the obscure one that wrecked you. It is the slide that starts conversations.

The dominant fear slide is the quiet measure of a good run. If it says Possession and you thought of yourself as a slasher person, your rankings know something you did not.

What it does not do

Bloodwork does not include anything you did not rank. Watchlist films and comments do not make the story. Rank what you watched and the story writes itself.

It is not a second set of numbers. Every slide is a stat from the Taste tab, Scare Tolerance included, drawn the same way and shown bigger.

It does not invent a scariest film if you have ranked nothing. A profile with no rankings has no story, which is a good argument for the week streak.

And it does not publish anything on its own. Every slide has a "Share this" button, and nothing leaves the app unless you send it. The glossary entry on Bloodwork has the short version.

Questions people ask us.

Is Bloodwork free?

Yes. Everything in Gasper is free, and every slide is open to everyone once you have ranked five films.

What is a fear twin?

The member whose taste matches yours most closely, shown as a percentage. Whatever scared them that you have not seen is the next thing to watch.

Is Bloodwork a year in review?

No. It covers everything you have ever ranked on Gasper, the same as the Taste tab it is drawn from. Open it in March and it is just as complete as in December.

Rank what scared you.

Free on the App Store. Log a film tonight, answer which was scarier, and watch your rankings take shape.
