Because horror is the only genre you come out of feeling more alive than when you sat down. You survived something. It puts you closer to your own life and lets you meet a fear on your own terms, and we wanted a community built around that feeling. Keeping every film here horror is also what makes every scare score worth comparing.

No, and that is the point. Everyone thinks they rate honestly and everyone gives their favorite films five stars. On Gasper you just answer which of two films scared you more, over a few quick head-to-heads against films you have already ranked, and we do the math. Scariness is the axis; there is no star rating.

Heart it. Just because you didn't find a film scary does not mean it wasn't good, and saying otherwise is a disservice to the Scary Movie franchise. Loved films get their own shelf on your profile, separate from how they scored. Tap the heart while ranking, or any time from the film's page.

Then your scare scores will run high compared to the community average and your Scare Tolerance will say so, plainly, in front of everyone. There is no shame in it. There is a little shame in it.

Yes. Any ranking can be public or unlisted, film by film. Public posts show in your followers' feeds and can reach Trending; unlisted posts stay off other people's feeds but remain visible on your profile. On top of that, turn on Private account in Settings and new followers have to be approved by you before they can see anything.

It opens the ranking flow over whatever you are already looking at, so logging a film never means leaving your place. Search for what you watched, or pick from what is new this season and what is sitting on your watchlist, and the flow carries straight on into how scary it was.

Lists are film collections you curate, alone or with friends as collaborators. Save other members' lists to keep them in your Lists tab, mark a list private to keep it yours alone, and share one with a link.

If you allow contacts access, Gasper hashes the emails and phone numbers in your address book on your device and matches those hashes against members who signed up. Your raw contacts never leave your phone, and you can revoke access any time in iOS Settings.

Titles, posters, credits, and trailers come from TMDb (The Movie Database). If something looks wrong or missing, it usually needs fixing on TMDb itself.

Settings, then Delete account. You will be asked to type DELETE to confirm. It permanently erases your account, rankings, follows, comments, and likes from our servers and cannot be undone.
