Support & FAQ
Answers first, then a humanHow does ranking work?
Every film gets a Scare Score: you answer a few head-to-head matchups (which film was scarier?) against films you have already ranked, and Gasper places it on your list. There is no star rating; scariness is the axis. If a film is a favorite, tap the heart to mark it as loved.
You can also leave a review: a short note on what the film did to you, plus tags, who you watched it with, and who gets to see the post. Reviews show under the film on its page and travel with your post in the feed.
What is the Rank tab for?
It is a deck of horror you have not dealt with yet, one film at a time. Swipe right to save a film to your watchlist, swipe left to skip it, or tap the card to open the film. Films you have already ranked, saved, or skipped never come back.
Rank is a button rather than a swipe, because most of the deck is films you have not seen and ranking one only makes sense once you have. The setting beside the title decides what a save does: keep it to yourself, or share it so your followers see what you want to watch.
What does the heart mean?
Loved marks the films you would recommend or watch again, separate from how scary they are. A film can be a 3.0 on scares and still be a favorite. You can tap the heart while ranking or any time from the film's page, and your loved films get their own shelf on your profile.
What is stalking?
Stalking is following the makers, not the members. Stalk a director, actor, writer, or studio from their page and Gasper alerts you when they release a new horror film.
Who can see my rankings?
Every post (a ranking, a want-to-watch, or a shared list) is either Public or Unlisted. Public posts show in your followers' feeds and can reach Trending; Unlisted posts stay off other people's feeds but remain visible on your profile. On top of that, turn on Private account in Settings and new followers must be approved by you before they can see anything.
What are lists?
Lists are film collections you curate, alone or with friends as collaborators. Post a list to the feed to share it, save other members' lists to keep them in your Lists tab, and mark a list private to keep it yours alone.
How does finding friends from contacts work?
If you allow contacts access, Gasper hashes the emails and phone numbers in your address book on your device and matches those hashes against members who signed up. Your raw contacts never leave your phone, and you can revoke access any time in iOS Settings.
Where does the film data come from?
Titles, posters, credits, and trailers come from TMDb (The Movie Database). If something looks wrong or missing, it usually needs fixing on TMDb itself.
How do I delete my account?
Settings, then Delete account. You will be asked to type DELETE to confirm. It permanently erases your account, rankings, follows, and stalks from our servers and cannot be undone.
