Your rankings: your personal ordered list of horror on Gasper
Your rankingsnoun
Your rankings are the ordered list of every horror film you have ranked on Gasper, built from head-to-heads rather than typed scores.
Your rankings are your ordered list of horror on Gasper: every film you have ranked, in the order your head-to-heads put them, with a scare score for each. It is the thing the app is for.
Where the idea comes from
Every horror fan carries a list around, usually unwritten and in rough order: the films that got to them, the ones that did not, the ones they argue about. Gasper's job is to get it out of your head and into a list that holds up, one comparison at a time.
How it is built
Your rankings are not a pile of scores sorted descending. They are the ranking itself. When you rank a film, "How scary was it?" places it in a range (Terrifying, Some scares, or Barely flinched), then head-to-heads against films with the same answer find its exact spot among its neighbors. The number is read from the position afterwards. That means your list is always internally consistent: no two films can share a spot, and the film at position twelve is one you judged scarier than the film at thirteen.
There is one ordering, because scare is the only thing Gasper ranks. Loved is a separate flag: films you heart, regardless of where they rank, which the Rankings tab can filter to.
Early on, with only a handful of films, the numbers are blurred and Gasper says how many more to rank to unlock them. It needs 5 ranked films before it shows numbers, and the list starts to feel right somewhere past a dozen, when the comparisons have had enough to work with.
In Gasper
Your rankings live on your profile, under the Rankings tab, which can show "All rankings", "Loved" or "Recently ranked", next to the Taste and Lists tabs and the counts of films Watched, your Watchlist and your Followers. Followers see them, friends see each new addition in their feed with your score and your review unless you put it in Stealth mode, and the Community Scare on every film page draws on rankings from everyone who ranked it, as an anonymous average. The leaderboard's Fans board ranks members by films watched, which is a measure of list size, not taste. On a film's page the button reads "Ranked" once it is in your list, and tapping it offers "Re-rank head-to-head", "Edit" and "Remove from watched". Your rankings are yours for free, like everything else. You can delete your account from Settings and the list goes with it.
