On this page
It starts the ranking flow. There are three ways in: the Rank tab, the plus in the middle of the tab bar; the Rank button on any film's page; and "Rank the film" on the daily pick card. Pick what you watched and the flow carries straight on into how scary it was.
What happens after you tap it
From the Rank tab, first the film. The screen asks "Watch any movies recently?" with a search box, "Search a film to rank", and two shelves, "New this season" and "Watchlist". A film that is not out yet says "Not out yet" and cannot be picked. From a film's page or the daily pick, the film is already filled in.
Second, "How scary was it?": Terrifying (nightmare fuel), Some scares (a few good jolts) or Barely flinched (slept fine). This decides which of your films the new one is compared against and the range its score can land in, so a film that wrecked you never finishes below one you slept through.
Third, "Anything to remember?": an optional review with a "Contains spoilers" switch, who you watched with, tags, the "Loved this?" heart, and "Stealth mode" to keep the rank off the feed. Then "Start ranking", or "Rank it" when there is nothing yet to compare against.
Fourth, the head-to-heads. The question is "Which was scarier?"; tap a poster or drag toward the scarier one, with an undo if you slip. Each answer narrows where the film sits, and after a handful of comparisons the screen says "Added to your rankings", with the scare score in skulls and the film's place in your list. Share it or tap Done, and if this rank started a new week on your streak, or was your first film from a director or of a subgenre, a card says so.
After it is ranked
On the film's page the button now reads "Ranked". Tap it for "Re-rank head-to-head", "Edit" and "Remove from watched". The heart takes the place of the watchlist button, so you can mark the film as loved any time.
