Titles, posters, credits, release dates and streaming providers come from TMDb (The Movie Database). Trailers play in the app. If something looks wrong or missing, it usually needs fixing on TMDb itself.
The details
TMDb is a community-maintained database, which is why it is both wide and occasionally wrong. Gasper reads a film's title, year, poster, cast, crew, studios, genres and keywords from it, and the "Where to watch" section on a film's page lists the streaming providers TMDb knows for it. The subgenre shelves in Discover (Slashers, Possession, Found Footage and the rest) are resolved from TMDb's keywords, so a film sits on a shelf because TMDb tagged it that way. Release dates for unreleased films come from the same place, and they decide when the Rank button unlocks.
As the app says in Settings: this application uses TMDB and the TMDB APIs but is not endorsed, certified, or otherwise approved by TMDB.
Fixing something
If a poster is wrong, a year is off, a film is missing, or a film is sitting on the wrong shelf, the fix is on TMDb. Anyone can create a free account at themoviedb.org and submit a correction, and once it is accepted it flows through to Gasper. If a film you think of as horror does not appear in search, TMDb has usually filed it under another genre, and the same fix applies.
If something is broken on Gasper's side rather than TMDb's, write to support@gasperapp.com, or use "Contact support" in Settings.
What Gasper does not get from TMDb
Your rankings, scores and the Community Scare are Gasper's own, built from head-to-heads. So are the percentage who loved a film, the reviews, the tags under "What people said", and the lists a film is featured in.
