Streak: the week streak that one rank keeps alive
Streaknoun
A streak on Gasper is the count of consecutive weeks in which you ranked at least one film, on a seven-day grid, frozen for three days before it resets.
The streak is Gasper's week streak, shown as a flame with "N-WEEK STREAK". Rank at least one film each week and it climbs. It is built for the way people actually watch horror, which is not every day.
How the grid works
Your streak runs on a fixed seven-day grid that starts from your first rank. Each due date is exactly seven days after the last. Rank anything before the due date and the streak goes up by one. You do not have to rank on the same weekday every time; you have the whole window.
Miss a due date and the streak does not die on the spot. It freezes for three days, the flame goes icy, and if you allow notifications the app tells you "Your streak is frozen". Rank within those three days and the flame picks up where it left off. Let the fourth day pass with nothing and it drops to zero, and the next ranking starts a new grid.
Only ranking counts. Hearting a film (Loved), adding to a watchlist or commenting do not move it. A rank in Stealth mode does, since it is still a ranking.
Why weekly
Daily streaks suit habits that take a minute. A horror film takes ninety. A daily streak would push people to rank things they had not watched, which would poison their rankings and everybody's Community Scare. A weekly rhythm asks for one honest film a week, which most fans manage without trying and which, kept up for a year, is fifty-two films you ranked properly.
The frozen days are there because life happens. Three days is enough to recover from a holiday weekend without making the streak meaningless.
In Gasper
Your week streak shows as a card right after a rank when it is the first of a new week, and as its own slide in your Bloodwork. The other two cards that can follow a rank are "NEW DIRECTOR" and "NEW SUB-GENRE", for your first film from a director or of a subgenre; there is no badge collection beyond those. There is no streak freeze to buy and no way to repair a dropped streak: the three frozen days are the whole safety net, and they apply to everyone equally.
Questions people ask
Is it a daily streak?
No. It is weekly. One ranking a week keeps it alive, which is meant to be sustainable for people with jobs.
What happens if I miss a week?
The streak freezes for three days and the app says so. Rank in that window and it climbs again. Miss the fourth day and it drops to zero.
Does hearting a film or adding to my watchlist count?
No. Only ranking a film counts.
